Training to Failure example

Great video of a 'training to failure' rescue exercise truly testing the limits of a sea kayak coach's abilities. The point is not to gain competency in these outrageous conditions, but to identify boundaries, build sensemaking, and use that for preventative actions preceding these events once clients are in tow. The alternative - do we want our guides experimenting with these conditions without a safety net and only after something has gone wrong?

This exercise hits all the key principles of building:

1 coping skills at the boundaries

2 meaningful interaction with inherent risk

3 testing calibrates judgement

4 make learning hard

Chapeau to the Gales of November crew for trainings such as these.
